Heartbeat Control

Description

Important:
Upon the release of 1.1, a small issue existed that caused a big problem which broke the plugin. The issue has been resolved as of version 1.1.2.
If you’re getting errors, check your plugin version and update to 1.1.3, which should fix everything. You’ll need to replace the plugin (wp-content/plugins/heartbeat-control) via FTP. Once you do that, all should be well.

Allows you to easily manage the frequency of the WordPress heartbeat API with just a few clicks.

The heartbeat API can be disabled entirely and allowed for only specific locations.

Heartbeat intervals can be modified between 15 and 300 seconds between requests, saving on server resources.

Installation

  1. Upload the plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate Heartbeat Control on the Plugins page.
  3. Adjust any settings within Settings > Heartbeat Control.

FAQ

Installation Instructions
  1. Upload the plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate Heartbeat Control on the Plugins page.
  3. Adjust any settings within Settings > Heartbeat Control.
How do I change my settings?

All options are located within Settings > Heartbeat Control.

Why would I want to change the default heartbeat intervals?

If you commonly leave your WordPress admin up for long periods of time, especially while writing or editing a post, the repeated POST requests can cause high resource usage. To avoid this, the heartbeat can be modified or even disabled to lower your server resource usage.

Reviews

Perfect for certain hosting providers (GD) that continually die from resources.

Was getting continuous resource messages and site simply hanging up due to a ton of PHP processes while in WordPress admin. Had to always go into cPanel to kill those processes to get the site back functioning. After some research seems the repeated POST requests was the cause. This plugin has taken care of that issue! Simple to setup and it just works. Great plugin and a life saver at least on certain shared hosting providers.

From a silent majority

I can only speak for myself but your work is appreciated!
Worked like a champ before as it does now!

I also appreciate the newbs who don’t understand what “rebuilt ground up” could mean. If it weren’t for them I’d have to backup site, see plugin wasn’t coroporating, then reinstall backup. Saves me shittons of time.

Thanks for the rebuild bro!

Updated plugin busted our website as well

UPDATED this to five stars as that is the value of the plugin. The update itself was not five stars… Our original review is below but we are happy to be able to update it to a five star product.

Updated early this morning and it completely busted our large e-commerce site.

Busted it so bad we couldn’t get back to the admin panel to roll it back. Had to get our hosting company to intervene and restore our website from back up. Your plugin fix came too late to help us in this situation.

We were completely off line for an hour. This is about the worst thing that could happen to a commerce website. This will affect return visitors to our site all day(s) if they don’t refresh their browser. Not impressed.

You listed it as as 100% compliant but it is evident more testing was needed before rolling out this update.

Quick Resolution / Response!

This is a must have plugin if have issues with excessive resource usage, or have a large amount of traffic.

I was having issues with a recent update this morning, so I came here to see if anyone else was having problems, only to realize it had already been addressed! 5 stars for the plugin and author :thumbs-up:
