Description
This is a simple plugin to protect your wp-content/uploads folder from being browsed and people downloading your content
(Based on the plugin “Secure Folder wp-content/uploads” made by Daniel Satria)
Installation
- Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin and browse for the plugins “Secure-Uploads.zip” on your computer then select the file and click open and then click Install Now.
- Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
- Go to Settings > Secure Uploads.
- Click on “Secure uploads now!” button to start the process.
- Hooray now people can’t browse through your uploads folder (Note it is recommended that you do steps 3 & 4 once a month as WordPress monthly makes a new sub-directory in your uploads).
FAQ
- Does this do every folder?

Yes, the plugin will put the index.php in every sub-directory wp-content/uploads but it only does it when you click the “Secure uploads now!” button to start the process.
- Will this plugin affect my site loading it’s images?

No, all this does is protects your uploads from people downloading your content that they can access by browsing your wp-content/uploads folder
