Shrinkwrap Images

Description

This plugin will automatically add a tiny, invisible image on top of all of the images in your site. If a visitor right-clicks on one of your images, and selects “Save to Disk”, they will download the clear tiny image instead of the image that appears. If they select “Copy Image”, they will copy the clear tiny image instead of the image that appears.

You shouldn’t notice any slowdown on your site after installing the plugin; it has a very low profile.

In no way does the plugin claim to prevent downloads entirely; it is merely an added protective measure for your images.

Usage

  • Install the plugin through the Install Plugins interface or by uploading the shrinkwrap_images folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  • Activate the Shrinkwrap Images plugin.
  • That’s it! Any image on your site is now coated with a clear, protective layer 🙂

FAQ

Does this plugin prevent image downloads?

No. It is just a preventative step for image authors who want to do whatever they can to prevent downloads.

My images arent getting shrinkwrapped!

If your images are in a slider, make sure they link to “none” in your slider’s settings. Otherwise, let me know and I’ll take a look. There are many scenarios that may be overriding the plugin’s behavior.

Why did you make this plugin?

At my WordCamp Rochester 2017 talk, WordPress for Artists, I was asked if there were any plugins that could do this. Not finding one, I set about writing one myself.

Hello, I like the concept but unfortunately it doesn't work well for the layout. There's default missing pic icon everywhere (the icon like when a pic is not load) ; overlap behind my logo, my navigation menu (I'm using icon on my menu), thumbnail pics and even on Google Map. Its also ruined the layout composition that somehow my texts got big gap on each paragraph.

Thank you Ben. I've spent literally days on Google copyright removals requests and am so happy to find any plugin that will help me avoid these in the future if at all possible! I spent a few minutes trying to work out what to do with my images only to realize everything is automatic! Brilliant 🙂

Woohoo!! yes this plugin really does the job! now all my images are protected, I tested by downloading it, and once I saw it on my PC, the image is just named "clear.gif". And once I opened it, it's just a tiny little image, for sure no one is going to use it in anyway. Thank you very much for this plugin! at first I have a doubt due to low numbers of active installed, but the truth is this plugin really does the job to protect your image, give it a try if you really care with your images.

My client spent a bit of money for nice banner images and customized a few others. I wanted to discourage people from taking them by simply saving them off the site page. This plugin did exactly what I wanted without slowing down the site. Perfect. Thank you!
